With great taste and distinctive bright red color, sockeye salmon is packed with omega-3s and vitamin D, among many other essential nutrients. No salt added Redhead is caught in the ocean waters around Kodiak Island, Alaska.

The sockeye is packed very loosely, so loosely, that when it is opened, it’s a mush of liquid fish mix, like a soup. The fish needs to be packed tighter so it does not become muck during the canning process.

Sorry to hear that, as typically the salmon is packed tightly. When the salmon come, it is often in great quantities, and the salmon canning lines go full tilt, 24/7. Freshness in canning is key, and it is a wild product, and though every effort is made to grade the salmon before canning, it would be impossible to achieve perfect uniformity without interfering with the 'freshness' aspect. I liken wild canned salmon to wine or apples or even a head of lettuce in terms of seasonal variability, despite the best efforts to maintain a constant quality. Now with farmed salmon there is quality control every step of the way..right to the dye they use to color the flesh. I would be happy to reimburse you for the unsatisfying salmon, but I had to say this in defense!

This is by far the best canned Sockeye Salmon I have ever had. I’ve tried numerous brands, but the quality and price of Redhead can’t be beat!
I eat one can a day. By weight I calculated this to a full 3 grams of Omega 3 fatty acids per can.
Plus the added benefit of skin and bones, so you get your calcium. And no salt!!!! No competitor has this. I can’t have high salt foods.
The only con is the lid isn’t a pull top and I need a can opener to open it. But that’s not even a bother.
Superb!!!! Thank you Redhead!! This is my go to brand!

I wanted to leave a review to offset the negative one. I have bought this salmon multiple times and it has always been great. This is my favorite canned salmon. I love the 7.5oz can, the skin and bones, and the no salt added. If you are looking for that exact combination, it's well worth it. The sockeye is fantastic.

Hard to believe this only has one 2-star review at the time of writing. This is the best canned wild salmon I’ve found. The color and consistency might vary a bit from can to can, but the flavor is always consistently great. Thank you for providing this no salt option alongside the traditional cans.

Five stars is not enough for this wonderful salmon! We have been ordering boxes of this salmon regularly for years now and I also regularly send boxes of the salmon to my mother in Florida who just loves it. It is definitely the best canned Alaskan salmon (with healthy bones and skin included) sold anywhere. Very flavorful.

Having grown up in the fishing industry in Alaska, I am comparing this to fresh, home canned sockeye, which frankly can’t be beat…this comes in a close second, and having moved out of Alaska, it is much easier to obtain. I very much appreciate the no salt option as well!
